Zynga, the maker of Farmville, is planning to launch NFT games
NFT games and steadfast adoption may reach Zynga
Zynga, a social game company, based in the United States, plans to release (non-fungible token) NFT games shortly. Matt Wolf, Zynga’s vice president of blockchain, told the press that the business is now analyzing the cycle and “figuring out where we want to jump in.”
Matt Wolf, Zynga’s vice president of blockchain, informed the website Axios on February 9, 2022, that the business wants to develop non-fungible token (NFT) games.
Mark Pincus, Eric Schiermeyer, Justin Waldron, Michael Luxton, Steve Schoettler, and Andrew Trader started the social game firm Zynga in 2007. Zynga’s games became extremely popular after introducing Farmville on Facebook in 2009, with subsequent hits like Zynga Poker and Words with Friends. Wolf discussed the company’s NFT gaming aims with Axios writer Stephen Totilo. According to Wolf, Zynga’s blockchain team now comprises roughly 15 personnel, who intends to raise that number by 70-100 by the end of the year.
The “studio,” according to the vice president of Zynga’s blockchain business, is seeking top jobs, including a “tokenomics designer.” Wolf did not indicate when the Zynga-created NFT game would be released, but he did say the firm was actively considering when it would enter the NFT ecosystem. “Things are frothy right now,” Wolf added. “So we’re looking at the cycle and we’re figuring out where we want to jump in, but we definitely have feelers out.”
Zynga’s initial focus is on blockchain players already familiar with the NFT environment. NFT-centric themes in Zynga games will be optional, Wolf told Totilo, after the launch of NFTs by gaming companies such as EA and Ubisoft. “When they enter into one of these products, they come at it from an investor or, a whale, point of view and are interested in specific elements including yield,” Wolf surmised. Zynga’s blockchain executive added: “We don’t want to bring them something that they didn’t ask for, and we don’t want to assume that they want a super, super deep gameplay experience.”
The leading factor in NFT game development currently: Competition
When it comes to firms like EA and Ubisoft joining the NFT world, Zynga is out for the home run. Square Enix and Konami, two other video game companies, are also experimenting with NFTs. Furthermore, contemporary blockchain gaming giants such as Axie Infinity, a play-to-earn (P2E) video game with $4.1 billion in total NFT sales since 2017, compete.
Because Zynga may be negotiating an acquisition transaction, it is unclear when the business will enter the blockchain gaming market. Take-Two Interactive, a New York-based video game holding firm, announced its desire to buy Zynga for $12.7 billion last month.
