Ultra To Dominate Gaming Industry with Blockchain & Ubisoft
Ultra is one of several companies that consider blockchain can make the distribution of games more active and gamers more loyal. The Paris company today declared that Ubisoft, a French video game giant, will help authenticate transactions on its blockchain for gamers.
Blockchain Technology is characterized as a distributed ledger system for transparent and secure transactions. Ultra has built its blockchain, ‘UOS,’ a sister branch of ‘EOSIO,’ and Ubisoft is the first principal gaming company to work as a corporate block producer during a test period on Ultra’s test net.
Ubisoft is helping Ultra in verifying whether its blockchain technology works accurately. That’s meaningful because many prominent game companies have been tiptoeing around blockchain, which has the potential to obstruct a lot of businesses.
Blockchain producers will provide the computing infrastructure to verify transactions occurring on Ultra’s blockchain. These transactions would include ownership transfers between players, in-game assets creation, or payments. It is essential for Ultra to onboard block producers who have interest and ability to expand this new ecosystem, and able to perform technical validation task.
“Since Ubisoft is already a pacesetter in the games industry and shows dedication to examining blockchain as a viable technology for games, we are glad to announce our first cooperation of this type with them,” said co-CEO of Ultra, Nicolas Gilot.
“Ubisoft’s rich portfolio of world-renowned brands, including, Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed, and Just Dance, is a proof of their commitment to creating quality content for all, and their year’s long dedication to analyze blockchain technology assure they have the experience and skills to be best block producers.”
“We’re on a mission to rock the gaming industry by giving power back into the hands of players and developers,” said Gilot. “We are paving the way for a supreme game publishing platform, and we could not do it without the aid of companies such as Ubisoft.”
UOS will have a blend of technical block producers and corporate block producers, who understands the unique characters of Ultra. Ultra’s blockchain mainnet launch date is yet not announced, Ubisoft will begin contributing to the test net before the end of the year and if progress will be a part of the launch team for the Mainnet.
