Real Betis Inks Deal With Blockchain Digital Trading Card Platform Sorare
Real Betis Balompié, an Andalusia football club, has inked a licensing deal with Sorare, a blockchain-based digital trading card platform. The agreement will produce blockchain fantasy football gaming to Real Betis fans.
Sorare to Issue Real Betis Blockchain Cards
The news of the deal was declared through Sorare’s official Twitter handle on Thursday (April 23, 2020). With the agreement, the digital card selling platform can publish digital collectible cards of Real Betis players. Sorare utilizes blockchain technology to provide NFT (non-fungible tokens) facilitated by Ethereum’s ERC-721 standard.
Sorare will publish three different cards, which comprise one unique card, 10 Super Rare cards, and 100 rare cards per player and for each season. According to Sorare, Real Betis fans can participate in the presale of the Spanish club’s DLT cards starting on April 23, 2020.
Also, fans of the Andalusian football club can accommodate their digital player cards, which they can utilize to trade on the Sorare platform. The blockchain cards published by the DLT trading card platform are authentic, rare, and digital.
Moreover, during fantasy football games, managers set up teams of five players to partake in the weekly rewards. Besides, scores are decided by their chosen players’ performances on the field adjacent with bonus points added to the power of their digital cards. Managers hold a chance to gain as high as 2.64 ETH weekly.
Real Betis follows the list of about 40 clubs that have approved a deal with the DLT digital card trading platform, Major football like AS Roma, Juventus, S.S. Lazio, Atletico Madrid, and FC Porto are amongst Sorare’s clientele.
Blockchain Becoming More Popular in the Sports Industry
Blockchain technology has advanced to enjoy extensive adoption in the sports industry. American basketball club, Sacramento Kings, which had earlier started a blockchain-based auction platform, also auctioned the jersey pertaining to one of its players, Buddy Hield, on the Ethereum blockchain, to support Hurricane Dorian victims in the Bahamas.
Also, Juventus, a major Italian football club, associated with the blockchain sports platform, Chilliz, to launch the world’s first fan token offering (FTO).
Chilliz has also collaborated with various football teams to include fan tokens. Some of the clubs incorporate Galatasaray, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid, among others.
