Parsec Frontiers Heading To The Moon With Blockchain Based Game

Last Updated: July 22, 2018By

Parsec Frontiers, the next generation of blockchain based game, is changing the way computer games are funded and developed. According to a report by Grand View Research, global gaming market size is expected to reach approx $172 billion by 2025. With a CAGR of 6.5%, Parsec Frontiers is betting on the blockchain technology to drive the future of gaming and share a piece in the massive gaming market.

In an interview with SCN Corporate Connect, Mr. Henning Rokling, co-founder of Parsec Frontiers, shared his views on his all-new blockchain-based virtual galaxy game.

Gregg Greenberg: Tell me about Parsec Frontiers and this new galaxy that you’re building online.

Henning Rokling: It’s my pleasure. We’re game developers; I got started in the games industry 25 years ago and we are now building a virtual galaxy that’s based on blockchain where all the assets, spaceships and resources are stored on a blockchain. All the ownership is secured by the network running in the blockchain.

Gregg Greenberg: How did you come up with this idea?

Henning Rokling: It came naturally. Since we are game developers, we were thinking of ways of doing games in a more secure way and combining our interest with blockchain technology, we figured out that this actually is a disruptive technology for virtual world complex online multiplayer games.

Gregg Greenberg: How you actually play the game and what Parsec is for those who might not know?

Henning Rokling: Parsec is the distance that light travels and it’s a way of measuring distance within space. We came up with the name obviously because a parsec is a very relevant term for traveling and exploring outer space.

Gregg Greenberg: How do you win the game? Are people playing now or it hasn’t been kicked off yet?

Henning Rokling: No, it’s still in a prototype development stage and we are fundraising. Basically, people participate in a virtual economy; this is a complex economy where all the assets are tradable, so you can buy and sell spaceships or the natural resources that you extract from planets.

Gregg Greenberg: How you’re gonna make money from this venture? I know it’s gonna be fun to play but hopefully, you’re doing this for a profit, right?

Henning Rokling:  Yeah, absolutely. What we’re selling is the currency, which is of a finite supply and the currency, the investor that vice the currency is actually betting on the growth of the economy within the virtual world.

Gregg Greenberg: Sounds cool to me. Talk about your token timeline.

Henning Rokling: Absolutely. We’re starting our sale on May 15 and we did a small round in January. The game is set to go into what we call exploration mode in December. That’s when you can start deploying spaceships and spaceships is actually something that you are required to purchase in order to be able to play the game. It’s not like a subscription for playing but you need to buy a spaceship.

Gregg Greenberg: As they say in the crypto world, “to the moon”, right? Get your spaceship and then Parsec Frontiers is going to go to the moon. Thanks for talking about it.

Henning Rokling: My pleasure.

With the Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) gaming experience, Parsec Frontiers is all about humanity’s colonization of stars and planets in the Milky Way. The game will allow players to mine and refine rare elements, build advanced starships and defense systems and buy and trade resources at a profit on the planetary exchanges.

Harnessing the blockchain technology to create a trusted virtual gaming experience, Parsec Frontiers is definitely headed ‘to the moon.’
