On-Chain Gaming Labs for Web 3 Games, Curio Research, Secures $2.9M in Seed Financing

Last Updated: February 23, 2023By

Curio Research, a California-based firm that specializes in creating on-chain gaming labs for building crypto Web3 games, has secured $2.9m in seed funding from a consortium of investors. The funding round was led by Bain Capital Crypto and included participation from TCG Crypto, Formless Capital, Smrti Lab, Robot Ventures, and a number of angel investors.

According to reports, Curio Research aims to create Web3 games that offer benefits to gamers beyond just financial incentives. Its on-chain games are powered entirely by smart contracts, allowing all participants to contribute to a shared universe of code and data. This results in games that are built entirely by players’ creativity and content and maximize transparency.

Curio Research recently launched its first game, Treaty, which enables players to write and deploy smart contracts to draft rules on how they interact with other players in the game. With the seed funding, Curio Research plans to create more games that combine Web3 capabilities, design, and seamless experiences. The funding will also allow the firm to expand its development and design team in San Francisco and remotely.
