OMC Group Sdn Bhd “(“OMC Group“) is providing a fun way to know about blockchain by a game of collecting unique tradable digital tokens with the launch of Omni Pets. Omni Pets are digital tokens developed utilizing the ERC-721 open standard based on the Ethereum protocol and are non-fungible. Unlike the ERC-20 standard utilized to create cryptocurrencies, these tokens are all unique. With 200 unique digital tokens provided per week in eggs, these pets, when hatched, have to be cared for and nurtured as their trading value also increases if they are “happy” and “contented.”

OMC Group, the blockchain arm and a subsidiary of AIO Synergy Holdings Berhad, is giving Omni Pets to the public to introduce blockchain technology and inject fun into learning while playing a game accumulating one-of-a-kind digital tokens that can be traded.

These digital pets come in 16 designs covering physical features like eyes and body type with different colors and patterns. At the same time, there will also be limited editions for festive or special occasions. The pets can be purchased with the in-game currency recognized as “gold coins,” which is valued at US$1 per gold coin. The in-game currency can be bought with bitcoin, Ether, US Dollar Tether, and OMCoin.

We believe that this is a fun and interesting way for people to understand blockchain better while allowing them to collect and trade unique digital assets. Beyond Omni Pets, ERC-721 can be used to tokenize other assets, such as art collections, property, and jewelry. The digital pets’ ecosystem runs on the OMChain2.0, a consortium blockchain enabling only authorized participants, and is a secure and performance-driven platform. Owners of the digital pets will also know how the blockchain operates from owning to trading as OMChain2.0’s smart contract is utilized to facilitate these transactions.
