According to a top official, Kerala will provide 20,000 blockchain professionals in the next two years, in what could be a substantial change in this emerging technology in India.

“The coming two years are crucial for us as we plan to produce 20,000 blockchain experts. The emphasis is on enhancing the quality of workforce steered by young startup companies.

It’s an excellent opportunity for us to build expertise in next-generation technology and knowledge sharing,” State IT secretary M Sivasankar said here.

He stated this while inaugurating the second edition of the two-day conclave-‘BlockHashLive 2019′ which commenced here on Thursday.
Organized by the ‘Kerala Blockchain Academy’ (KBA) in collaboration with Allianz Technology, India, the event marked industry leaders building a strong case for leveraging the potential of blockchain technology for the public by capacity building and encouraging R&D, and entrepreneurship.

“Blockhash Live has been a great learning platform for us. We use this platform to check what we have achieved, our learning and future footprint,” Sivasankar said.

Blockchain technology affords a tamper-proof and immutable data storage system and transparency in digital applications. Blockchain is the most promising technological innovation after the advent of the internet.

It has the potential to agitate business domains such as cybersecurity, insurance, banking services, trade finance, and retail by performing faster, transparent, and secure transactions, he said.

Saji Gopinath, Director, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management – Kerala (IIITM-K), highlighted the importance of bringing together blockchain experts across the globe to consider the business potential of this new-age technology.

Dignitaries at the inauguration conversed about the importance of the blockchain system in various industries with collaborative opportunities in leveraging the technology for the public good and placing Kerala as the country’s blockchain hub.
