Jordan Unveils National Blockchain Network to Elevate Government Transparency

Last Updated: July 20, 2024By

On July 17, the Jordanian Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with the local blockchain firm Blockexe, announced the inauguration of a national blockchain network named Modee Dlt. This cutting-edge protocol is designed to bolster trust and transparency within government services.

The Modee Dlt blockchain network has been seamlessly integrated with the Jordanian government portal, enabling decentralized and verifiable digital records for all Sanad transactions. This strategic move aligns with Jordan’s Digital Transformation Strategy (2021-2025), which is dedicated to fortifying the nation’s digital infrastructure.

As part of Jordan’s progressive strategy, fostering innovation and encouraging partnerships between the private and public sectors are deemed crucial. Investments in pivotal information technology infrastructure, including broadband expansion and the deployment of 5G technology, are also highlighted as essential catalysts. These initiatives, alongside five other strategic enablers, aim to enhance the quality of life for Jordanian citizens.

The Ministry underscored that leveraging the blockchain network across various government sectors will establish a reliable digital ecosystem, aligning with the Kingdom’s overarching objective of achieving a resilient and trustworthy digital economy.

Beyond enhancing trust in governmental operations, this pioneering initiative seeks to streamline the integration of e-government services, rendering them more transparent, efficient, and competitive on both local and international stages.
