HEMA Collaborated with Farmer Connect for Blockchain Coffee Traceability
HEMA, a dutch variety store will start using the farmer connect blockchain solution so that they can trail the supply chain of sold coffee products.
HEMA will be the first principal retailer that will be joining the farmer connected coffee traceability network.
With the help of farmer connect’s technology, around 27 varieties of products will be discovered such as beans, capsules, and many more.
HEMA Food Manager said that 70% of the range will be traceable and they are planning to offer coffee products with the help of chain traceability.
Being founded in 2019, Farmer Connect’s mission is to improve consumption through technology. With the help of blockchain, it encourages sustainable and traceable agriculture.
Currently, they are focusing on cocoa and coffee traceability. The blockchain technology is by IBM’s Food Trust and has three products – Farmer ID, Thank My Farmer, and Connect Hub.
HEMA will be implementing the Thank My Farmer app, which will allow customers to get all information about a product, simply by scanning a QR code on the packaging.
Through the app, the customer will be able to trace the quality of coffee beans. For example, customers will be able to engage with the farmers that harvested the bean. This way they can support local farming as well.
Blockchain technology will be used to trace the attractive donations. The possible donor concerns us that they cannot know how and by whom their donation is being used.
Farmer connect is allowed to resolve this concern by using the donation in a secured environment.
