Epic League, a new blockchain game studio, has raised $1 million in seed funding
Epic League, a firm specializing in online role-playing games and the blockchain game environment, has raised $1 million in its first venture funding. WeMade, YGGSEA, GBIC (Global Blockchain Innovative Capital), IVC (Infinity Ventures Crypto), Moon Holdings’ Thomas Vu, and other industry-leading seed investors. Epic League claims to be nearing the end of the alpha phase of Dark Throne, the first game in their ecosystem, and will shortly provide a sneak peek.
“The entire environment we’re creating is solely for the benefit of our game’s players and community.”
The Epic League team comprises top-tier game developers and blockchain experts who have worked on global hit games like Lineage 2M, Marvel Future Revolution, Marvel Future Fight, and BTS Universe Story. As Art Director, Ji-hyung Lee, a Marvel and DC Comics cover artist, participated. Advisors included Young-hoon Baek, a former Netmarble COO, and Thomas Vu, a former Head of Creative and current advisor at Sandbox.
“We were given early access to play Dark Throne, the inaugural game of Epic League,” stated Evan Spytma, CEO of YGGSEA. Although it was still in the pre-alpha stage, it garnered a positive response from our team and has the potential to become “epic.” We also appreciate Epic League’s support of the YGGSEA community by providing the Epic League Platform with a guild-friendly administrative system. In 2022, Dark Throne is a must-see.”
“As a game-maker for over two decades, I am witnessing more and more game creators go into the blockchain,” Thomas Vu, former Riot Games Head of Creative and current advisor to Sandbox, stated. It has an average of over 15+ years of game development expertise, and the number of global hits that they’ve developed, the Epic League team is one of the most stacked teams I’ve experienced going into this sector.”

Epic League may appear to have lofty goals. In 2022, two games will be released. The first of two games, Dark Throne, will be released in the first half of this year, along with the platform that will support its ecosystem.
“The entire environment we’re creating is solely for our game players and community,” said Epic League Executive Director Jay Kim. “We want to lead the P2E business by providing well-made games and an innovative and stable infrastructure that supports players, guild administrators, and community managers.”
Along with WeMade, GBIC, IVC, and other seed investors, YGGSEA, YGG’s first sub-DAO, which is already growing strongly in the South East Asia region, appeared to have seen the potential of the Epic League. This alone seems to be reason enough to keep an eye on their growth.
