Engaging Nigerian Youth in Blockchain: Internet Computer Protocol’s Call to Action

Last Updated: July 15, 2024By

Nigerian youths are being actively encouraged to immerse themselves in blockchain technology to enhance their global marketability and future-proof their careers. Adedayo Adebajo, co-founder of ICP Hub Sahara, a branch of the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) ecosystem, underscored this imperative during the second DecaHack cohort at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State. The DecaHack initiative, orchestrated by ICP, features online blockchain boot camps, hackathons, and pitch competitions.

Embracing Blockchain for a Brighter Future

Adebajo stressed the criticality of adopting blockchain, warning of dire repercussions for the country’s future if ignored. The Internet Computer is a public, smart contract-capable blockchain where developers can create decentralized applications (DApps) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The event attracted innovators, experts, and blockchain enthusiasts from across Africa, fostering discussions and networking to propel the continent’s technological advancement.
