EMURGO Unveils The Launch Of Blockchain-Based EMURGO Traceability Solution!

Last Updated: April 1, 2020By

EMURGO, the global blockchain solutions provider and an establishing entity of Cardano, declares the launch of “EMURGO Traceability Solution” – an enterprise solution leveraging blockchain technology to renew existing supply chain traceability standards and bring added value to supply chain stakeholders & end customers.

EMURGO Traceability Solution is the first blockchain-based enterprise solution produced by EMURGO’s Enterprise unit. EMURGO associated with Blue Korintji Coffee – an environmentally-conscious Indonesian coffee brand – to be the first commercial enterprise to combine EMURGO Traceability Solution in its coffee supply chain to profit all stakeholders, including consumers and farmers. This simple solution in the form of an easily downloadable application will leverage Cardano’s research-driven blockchain technology to render transparency of buying prices between stakeholders and ensure the immutability of accumulated private data.

Coffee customers will also be capable of scanning a QR code displayed in the coffee shop to access this data about the origin & traceability of their coffee. Commencing from April 5th, Blue Korintji Bintaro – the company’s first founded cafe branch in metropolitan Jakarta – will serve coffee to consumers utilizing EMURGO’s Traceability Solution and provide customers transparent access to the precise origin of their purchased coffee through QR code. Blue Korintji Coffee will commit to returning to local coffee farmers by joining a portion of sales revenue that has used this solution and invest in coffee production sustainability.

The global coffee bean supply chain industry and those with fewer resources are often the victims of opaque accounting standards and provenance measures, pointing to illegal practices and customer distrust.

In the case of Indonesia the world’s fourth-largest coffee producer and exporter – 96% of the coffee developed is by small farms that need the technological resources necessary to accurately account for their coffee bean production, leaving farmers & customers exposed to opaque data input by more substantial stakeholders in the supply chain that cannot be certainly verified.  The soaring need for coffee in the urban landscape of Indonesia due to “a booming coffee-drinking lifestyle” has also currently recognized the similarities of international celebrity figures Jay-Z & Serena Williams formally making financial investments into the Indonesian coffee scene by their venture capital firms, describing the potential of the local coffee market.

“EMURGO Traceability Solution is a breakthrough enterprise application providing a real solution to tackle inefficiencies in today’s supply chain industries. EMURGO is delighted to partner with Blue Korintji Coffee and integrates this solution, bringing a tangible real-world application of blockchain technology to farmers, enterprises, and consumers, and shine a light on the benefits the technology carries for everyone,” stated Ken Kodama, EMURGO CEO. “Blue Korintji Coffee is excited to partner with global blockchain technology solutions provider EMURGO, and offer an innovative tech solution that will improve the lives of local Indonesian farmers, businesses, and consumers,” stated Budi Isman, Blue Korintji Coffee Founder.
