Church In UK Turned Residence Is On Sale And Will Accept Payment In Bitcoin
Bitcoin has become a more and more acceptable form of payment in recent times. Take example of this 150-year-old English church which is being sold for $1.5 million and the payment of which will be accepted in Bitcoin (BTC).
As per the listing on one of Britain’s top online real estate portal and property website Rightmove, a vendor had put up for sale an 18th-century church converted into a seven-bedroom character property and is willing to accept Bitcoin as payment.
The listing mentions that though the property unit is priced at 1.2 million British pounds ($1.5 million), the final price in Bitcoin is to be agreed and confirmed with the vendor and will depend on the Bitcoin market price during the time of sale. At press time, the sale price is worth 182.34 Bitcoins.
The church in County Durham converted into residence was built back in 1871 and went by the name St. Laurence’s.
One major Bitcoin-oriented real estate project Aston Plaza, at the start of this year had reportedly halted their operations. There were also reports that claimed that the construction of this $325 million venture was discontinued long back in January 2018.
The Aston Plaza website says that the venture still offers studios as well as one- and two-bedroom apartments and readily accepts Bitcoin payments.
U.K. embracing crypto payments
Reports claim that U.K. has been readily accepting payments in crypto. One of the top local crypto wallet and debit card service company, Cryptopay made an announcement that they will be launching transfers with the British pound through the Faster Payments Scheme, which potentially eliminates euro conversion charges.
U.K.’s largest travel management company, Corporate Traveller, in April this year gave a nod to accepting payments in Bitcoin. The firm is not concerned with Bitcoin’s price volatility, as the crypto payments received are converted directly into British pounds.
