Boston Symphony Orchestra Collaborates with True Tickets
Boston Symphony Orchestra has collaborated with blockchain startup True Tickets to restart live performances.
True Ticket is a Boston-based startup that uses blockchain for contactless mobile ticketing. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the use of contactless ticketing has been enlarged to help venues reopen safely. They eliminate a source of contact between staff and event attendees.
The BSO’s performances have been closed for almost a year now due to the pandemic. But, the Orchestra is planning to reopen Tanglewood, the theater in which the Orchestra performed in 1937. The partnership will make the ticket-buying experience safer for staff and patrons.
Founded in 2001, True Tickets wanted to help venues manage the resale of tickets through price floors and caps to address ticket scalping. They also provide data insights to ticket issuers by tracking the ticket path from ticket purchasers. Besides, it also prevents fraud.
True Tickets uses API technology that allows the platform to integrate with the current ticket systems. The solution will cater to BSO’s existing ticketing infrastructure. This will authorize True Tickets to integrate with several venues and will facilitate the startup expansion.

The solution uses the Hyperledger Fabric blockchain that is hosted by IBM.
With the help of digital tickets, BSO can communicate with sponsors before and during the event to share COVID-19 protocols. Apart from that, BSO will use the communication feature to engage with customers beyond the transaction.
Contactless Ticketing is becoming quite popular in sports. Even before the pandemic, UEFA was planning to use blockchain-based mobile ticketing for EURO 2020. Ticketmaster gathered a blockchain sports ticketing app that has been getting upgraded for two years.
