Blockchain May Prove To Be An Excellent Solution For Shopping Behavior Amidst Covid-19!

Last Updated: April 10, 2020By

Currently, the world is unified against COVID-19, which has disrupted markets globally and rocked the very foundations of global healthcare, financial system, and social norms. Fortuitously, in this time, we have seen a common path to social responsibility, data sharing, and connectivity, which are demonstrating to be a dominant force for good.

Common Goal

The explosion of the novel coronavirus has granted the modern world with possibly its biggest hurdle yet. What we thought earlier impossible has determined to be possible – and we have been mainly caught off guard. As a consequence, extreme measures have been immediately executed by governments across the globe to defeat this pandemic, building new social norms as a method of endurance. In the corporate world, industries and businesses have been brought to a near halt as we all begin to accommodate and recognize the circumstances that we may be facing for some time to come.

Both domestically and globally, businesses are revealing that they are becoming increasingly more interconnected, with one driving factor being data – the essential weapon against the pandemic.

Action Where it Matters

We are incredibly lucky to be dwelling in a time where technological advancements in data, communication, and infrastructure can assist the spread of relevant information, goods, and services amongst the pandemic. In a time where we have to adjust our lives to survive completely, enterprises will also require to rethink almost every process – product acquisition, staffing, distribution, and more.

If companies can join together on this aspect, then a more sustainable balance can be reached – and many are moving up to discuss areas of need wherever they can. The proliferation of open data will enable organizations to make reasonable and socially efficient decisions, with a global focus that harmonizes and intensifies efforts.

Production facilities globally are being changed and scaled into action to help the effort against coronavirus. Famous manufacturers such as McLaren and Nissan, Dyson, Jaguar Land Rover, Airbus, Vauxhall, Renishaw, and JCB are offering production space, staff, production expertise, and giving their supply-chain savvy to the applications of governments worldwide.

Blockchain – A Solution for the New Era

Similarly, in the area of blockchain, efforts are being made to perform the technology into various sectors of society to assist the fight against coronavirus. An excellent instance of this is a Dutch blockchain company called Tymlez, which is reportedly providing the Dutch government with their technology to “model the medical goods ecosystem through a platform that matches supply and demand.”

In current weeks, we have read much of the dangers of close contact, and the significance put on social distancing – and going to the stores has become one of the riskiest activities those of us on lockdown are still allowed to undertake, and with thousands of new deaths per day, the importance of minimizing the vulnerability to public situations grows ever-more relevant. One solution which could influence this is blockchain platform Reckoon. Their GLoWS shopping app has a nifty feature that enables users to verify stock levels in shops before they even leave home, indicating that long-winded trips distributed with long periods of queueing to discover fundamental items could soon be a thing of the past.

Decreasing unnecessary journeys, preserving businesses, and promoting social responsibility is achievable if we work together, share data, and pool resources. Blockchain platforms can support these new norms, and the time is ripe.
