Audius Is Empowering New Artists With The Power Of Blockchain!

Last Updated: August 28, 2019By

It is fair to say that blockchain has taken over the music world by storm, literally! The future of digitalization is here and Audius is a new way of bringing fans and artists together through blockchain!

Audius’s mission is to create a fully decentralized community of artists, developers, and listeners collaborating to share and defend the world’s music.

It has created a team of entrepreneurs, engineers, audiophiles, and blockchain experts with a mission of empowering a new generation of audio creators on the decentralized web.

The Audius protocol gives everyone the freedom to share, monetize, and listen to any audio.

The project provides a blockchain based alternative to SoundCloud to help artists publish and monetize their work and distribute it directly to fans. This consists of a first-party dapp for interacting with the protocol and a reference implementation of the underlying protocol as specified in the whitepaper.

“The biggest problem in the music industry is that streaming is taking off and artists aren’t necessarily earning a lot of money. And it can take three months, or up to 18 months for unsigned artists, to get paid for streams,” says Ranidu Lankage, the CEO of Audius.

“That’s what crypto really solves. You can pay artists in near real-time and make it fully transparent”.

Lankage has always been passionate about building tools for creators. But this time, he wanted to focus on helping them turn their art into a profession. He teamed up with CTO Roneil Rumburg, an engineering partner at Kleiner Perkins who’d build a crypto wallet called Backslash.

The Audius protocol gives everyone the freedom to share, monetize, and listen to any audio.

With Audius both artists and fans are at an advantage. How? Let’s take you through a quick ride of how Audius benefits both!

Audius promises high-quality streaming. It backs up your masters forever, and streams in high quality to your fans.

Censorship Resistance activated. Afraid of whether or not your content will get censored? With Audius you as an artist can keep your worries at bay.

Your artist profile can never be “deplatformed”, and your tracks can never be censored or removed.

Anything free is surely our cup of tea! Metrics on your fan base, analytics, dashboards, and more – All free forever, no strings attached.

If you want to sound cool in front of your friends by mentioning how you know about an underground artist they have never heard of before. Well Audius got your back! It helps you find the next breakout artist even before they’re trending on mainstream platforms.

Audius’s goal is to build a blockchain streaming music service where listeners don’t have to understand blockchains. “A user wouldn’t even know that they have a wallet,” says Rumburg.  The protocol will live forever, owned and operated by a decentralized community of creators, developers, and listeners collaborating to defend the world’s music catalog.

A blockchain alternative to Soundcloud and even Spotify not only sounds cool but is beneficial for both the artists and the fans equally.

With more and more industries being wrapped under the blockchain technology, we are yet to see how Audius brings in a unique change for empowering emerging artists!
