Huobi Global Launches A $ 515 Acute Angle Blockchain Phone

Last Updated: September 4, 2019By

On Tuesday, Huobi Global announced the launch of their “Acute Angle” blockchain phone, which is priced at $515. This phone is developed and made by Whole Network, a start-up which Huobi Global invested in.

The blockchain phone is releasing in Southeast Asia, with the promise of launching it in U.S. and Europe in the near future.

As announced today, Huobi Prime will have Whole Network’s NODE token listed in it. Having competitors such as Sirin Labs’ $1000 “Finney” phone, this device by Whole Network can be bought with Huobi’s token, HT, for almost half the price.

As of now, Acute Angle is available in China with a launch of Q4 2019 planned soon in Southeast Asia. The launch dates for U.S. and European rollouts have not been finalized yet.

In a statement, Livio Weng, Huobi’s Global CEO stated that blockchain-based phones have a bright future ahead of them:

“We think blockchain phones are a promising area for future blockchain industry development. As the industry develops and as innovations like 5G become increasingly integrated into our telecommunications systems, we believe more and more crypto communities will want to trade and transact from mobile devices.”

Acute Angle consists of in-built crypto-ready features, such as a dAPP wallet, push trade notifications, the NODE native token, and an optional cold-wallet plugin.

Huobi noted that it is the first blockchain-based device by Whole Networks in the future line-up, with an envision of 5G capability.

As reported on Blockchain Magazine earlier, Samsung has provided a bitcoin functionality into its Samsung Developers Kit (SDK).
